Blog Post #8; Randy Pausch's Last Lecture.

What did you find most inspiring about Professor Pausch's lecture? Why?

Before going in depth with what I found MOST inspiring about Pausch, the whole lecture was truly great. He was phenomenon for keeping such a great and positive attitude while doing the speech, making the presentation entertaining by giving out relative details and examples and making jokes on and off. He did not let his own life take away his fun and he will always have fun for each day he has left. I also love how he points out his shattered goals and then slowly talk about how he achieved to where he is in the lecture. Anyway, I found a lot of things quite inspiring. One, "never give up". Even though things may throw at you not the way you want it to be, fight for it and maybe then, a chance will come. He was rejected by Brown Uni & CMU but he still hoped that he can be in the university... and he did. He was persistent. Also, when he applied for Disney, he was rejected with a letter... however, that did not make him lose hope to become the imagineer. Two, "do not do things on your own". There are always other people (friends, family, colleagues) who would love to help you and all you have to do is just open your heart. Pausch included, "tell the truth, apologize". Personally, if you tell the truth and apologize when you know it's your fault, there would be less arguments with the people you care and love in your life. Third, his lecture about the Brick Walls. Pausch said "Brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want something badly enough. They are there to keep out the other people." I totally agree with this because if you want to reach your goals, you have to give it all you got. If something stops you in the way and you easily give up, it means you are not up for it and you what you are going for is not what you REALLY want. There are many more great things that Pausch said in his speech, and it is going to be memorable for a very long time. Especially with his stufffed animals :)~
